Michael Cochrane Dip Arch; RIBA |
Since qualifying as an Architect in 1981, Michael has sought to broaden and deepen his professional expertise by working for practices of differing size, attracting commissions in a variety of fields, including hospitals, retail and commercial, housing, churches, health care and leisure.
He joined Douglas Smith Stimson Partnership as a Senior Architect in 1985 becoming a Director in 1989. The practice received design awards for both landscape projects and for a large number of different building types.
Whilst at Douglas Smith Stimson Partnership, Michael worked on schools, doctor’s surgeries, hotels, hospitals, public and private residential developments, church premises, offices and houses for individual clients.
In 1997, Michael set up his own practice in order better to continue serving his Clients. By retaining working links with larger practices, Michael was able to provide a flexible, personal response to any size of project. Such projects included mental health developments, and work on a number of PFI schemes as well as residential, commercial and local authority projects.
Since 2001, Michael has successfully worked as a consultant with leading architects, Ryder HKS, on health care PFI projects and other schemes.
In 2007, Michael joined Mark Cotton at architecture & design services ltd. to carry forward their combined aspiration to provide a high level of service in a competitive market.
